Stormwater compliance features that Versar offers include:
Watershed Assessment and Restoration Plans
New requirements link MS4 permits to pollutant reductions mandated by Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL) and Watershed Implementation Plan (WIP) requirements. Versar can complete assessments and create watershed plans to target stormwater retrofits, stream restoration, and community-based watershed restoration most effectively.
Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination
Versar has conducted systematic illicit discharge assessments in priority areas and watersheds as well as targeted investigations within industrial facilities and military bases. We develop and implement field protocols, reporting procedures, and source tracking to identify and address suspected discharges.
Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans
Versar conducts training, audits, and inspections to meet industrial stormwater permit requirements.
Baseflow and Storm Event Monitoring
Versar's monitoring teams conduct high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective stormwater monitoring. Supported by our in-house Weather Forecasting Center, Versar has an unparalleled record of success, with more than 400 storm events captured for seven MS4 clients since 1996.
Biological and Geomorphic Stream Assessments
Versar is the expert in EPA and state protocols for stream monitoring. Versar is the lead consultant to the nationally acclaimed Maryland Biological Stream Survey, whose biological indicators, data systems, QA protocols, and field methods serve as a model for our local MS4 monitoring.
Annual Reporting and Database Coordination
Versar is experienced in stormwater compliance reporting, having prepared 13 MS4 Annual Reports for Frederick County, Maryland, and contributed extensively to annual reports for our other MS4 clients. Versar is currently leading new efforts to develop a BMP tracking geodatabase to support of MS4 and TMDL compliance.
