Location: Dugway, UT
Responsibilities:
Provide all planning for the utilization of laboratory resources, scheduling, work-break-down structure and cost estimating to the Test Director (TD).
Directs, develops, and executes specified experiments in Chemical Defense (CD) or environmental programs.
Serves as technical specialist/expert directly related to Chemical Defense program testing authority
Initiates and maintains liaison with other pertinent government and private agencies to ensure that necessary information is available for the planning of all technical tasks.
Responsible for identifying the minimum Data Quality Objectives that are needed to satisfy the technical validity of all chemical test methodology.
Responsible for developing test methodology and writing the Test Plan Quality Assurance/Quality Control section
Responsible for the generation, analysis, and reporting to data to TD’s
Responsible for compliance with protocol standards and processes, techniques used in chemistry labs, and overall quality of research and development project integrity
Responsible for management and oversight of R&D related activity within Task Order.
Must meet eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a US Department of Defense Security Clearance

Experience/Skills/Education Requirements:
PhD in chemistry, other physical science, or engineering from an accredited university and at least one year of postdoctoral laboratory experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) Able to work with and around highly toxic materials. Must have extensive knowledge in the area of chemistry or other technical area pertinent to the operation of the laboratory. Must be able to review task requirements, prepare technical approaches, provide technical expertise to more junior staff, solve complex technical problems, and lead test methodology efforts. Must be competent in basic computer software (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Required to work with hazardous industrial chemicals as well as various chemical warfare agents
Must be able to wear standard industrial respirators and M-40 Mask for protection from chemical warfare agents for extended periods of time
May be required to stand for extended periods of time while performing routine laboratory work
Work environment will be typical of a chemical laboratory setting.
Instrumentation routinely used includes gas chromatographs, mass spectrometers, IR spectrometers, NMR, and numerous computer operating systems for operating instrumentation, processing data and preparing reports.
Attendance/Other Essential Functions:
Regular hours are Monday-Thursday 7:00am – 5:30pm
Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines.
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with management and employees. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to the employee or others. Must be able to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Travel to and from customer location may be required to support the projects. Air travel may be required. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
