Responsibilities:
This position is located in Dugway Proving Ground, UT. Experience in fluidic dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics, Proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD programs. Experience with fluid modeling. Proficiency in Fluent and/or ProE. Will help design, build and validate laboratory and chamber testing fixtures to support chemical warfare agent testing. Most fixtures will require complete environmental control of temperature and relative humidity as well as ensuring a consistent air flow through the fixture. Ability to be flexible and think of innovative solutions is desired. Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance is required.
Experience/Skills/Education Requirements:
BS degree from an accredited engineering school and five (5) to eight (8) years of related engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) to six (6) years of related engineering experience or a PhD. From an accredited engineering school and zero(0) to three (3) years of related experience. In the design, development, calibration, operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical test equipment. Must be experienced with building exhaust systems design, hood baffles, building with high efficiency particulate arresting (HEPA) and charcoal filter systems, design of test-fixture flow circuitry. Must have experience with refrigeration, climatic testing, cryogenic liquids, high-pressure liquids, gases and oxygen displacing vapors (CO2 and N2) Desired experience in various instrumentation such as temperature, relative humidity, air velocity pH and particulate concentration. Will be required to work with hazardous industrial chemicals as well as various chemical warfare agents
Must be able to wear standard industrial respirators and/or M-40 Mask for protection from industrial chemicals/chemical warfare agents for extended periods of time
May be required to stand for extended periods while performing routine laboratory work
Work with various standard computers/operating systems to process data and operate laboratory equipment
Instrumentation routinely used in laboratory operations included gas chromatographs, mass spectrometers, IR spectrometers, and numerous computer operating systems for operating instrumentation, processing data and preparing reports
Attendance/Other Essential Functions:
Regular hours are Monday-Thursday 7:00am – 5:30pm
Regular attendance and punctuality of scheduled hours is extremely important to attend meetings and meet deadlines. Overtime may be required.
Must demonstrate professional behavior at all times when dealing with management and employees. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to the employee or others. Must be able to communicate in English both verbal and in writing. Travel to and from customer location may be required to support the projects. Air travel may be required. Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customer, clients, co-workers and management
