Mr. Stone has over 40 years of experience with engineering and construction (E&C) firms in the broader contracting industry in many, progressive roles through CEO. His experience encompasses engineering, construction, mergers and acquisitions, sales, and technology and project development all over the world. As well as having held a number of management positions in business development, technology development and marketing, Mr. Stone has also served as a President of Black & Veatch, a global E&C company primarily in the energy arena; as President & CEO of Tepsco, a domestic E&C company operating primarily in the pipeline and industrial E&C markets; as SVP of CH2MHill a global E&C to create and build their global energy business; and as President of Ausenco, an Australian E&C based in the minerals industry and diversified the company into the global energy market. He has served on the boards of E&C and Technology businesses, and has had responsibility for international corporate subsidiaries in many different companies. For the past 4 years he has been focused in the acquisitions business supporting efforts to acquire firms in the O&G, chemicals, and power engineering; construction, field services, government, and maintenances contracting markets.
Mr. Stone graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and received his MBA in Finance from the University of Houston. He has 2 daughters and 4 granddaughters.
President & Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Wagonhurst, joined Versar in 1999 and most recently served as Executive Vice President in charge of the Company's Program Management Group. Mr. Wagonhurst has over 40 years experience in construction management and government contracting. He served 30 years in the United States Army, retiring at the rank of Colonel. Mr. Wagonhurst has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Austin Peay State University, a Masters of Arts Degree in Business Management from Webster University, and a Masters of Building Construction from the University of Florida.
Christine Tarrago, CFO
Chief Financial Officer
Ms. Tarrago has more than 20 years of financial executive leadership in North America and Europe. Ms. Tarrago comes to Versar from ICS Nett, where she served as Vice President and Corporate Controller. Prior to that, Ms. Tarrago served as Vice President Finance at K12, Inc. from March 2016 until January 2017 and as Vice President Finance, Corporate Controller of Lightbridge Communications Corporation from May 2011 to January 2016. She also has had leadership positions at companies including Marlink, Siemens and ALSTOM. Ms. Tarrago has a BA and MBA from the University of Augsburg in Germany, is fluent in four languages, and is a registered CPA in the State of Illinois.
Alessandria (Sandy) Albers
Vice-President - Human Resources
Ms. Albers joined Versar in November 2013. As a senior-level HR executive, she brings with her over 25 years of experience within high tech, government and HR consulting venues in both domestic and international HR arenas. She has worked for some of the world’s top multi-national technology organizations, and possesses a unique expertise in joint venture, merger and acquisition due diligence, acting in key business partner/advisor roles. Prior to joining Versar, Ms. Albers served as Vice President, Human Resources for a privately held technology firm based in the DC metropolitan area. Ms. Albers holds a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce and an MS in Management from National-Louis University.
Travis C. Cooper
Corporate Vice President, Engineering & Construction Management
Travis C. Cooper joined Versar in July of 2005. He has over twenty years leading complex, large scale international engineering and construction programs. Prior to becoming the Engineering and Construction Management (ECM) General Manager, Mr. Cooper served in numerous roles for Versar including Project Manager, Program Manager and Vice President of the Construction Management and Design Division with extensive experience in Iraq and Afghanistan. Travis was a Communications Officer in the US Army with multiple Command and Staff assignments with the 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division (Stryker Brigade Combat Team) and 2nd Infantry Division in Korea. Mr. Cooper has completed several Ironman Triathlons, holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Denver.
Suzanne J. Bates
Senior Vice President, Environmental Services Group
Suzanne Bates, B.S., M.S. joined Versar in September 2013 as a senior program manager and lead operations manager. Currently, Suzanne serves as Senior Vice President and Group Manager for Versar’s Environmental Services Group. Prior to joining Versar, Suzanne served as the Environmental Group Lead for Geo-Marine, Inc, leading programs and projects focused on the Department of Defense and other federal agencies. She is a graduate of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with a Bachelors of Science degree in biology and chemistry and a Masters of Science degree in marine sciences.
Linda M. McKnight
Senior Vice President, Business Development
Linda M. McKnight joined Versar in April 2013 as Director, Business Development. She was promoted to Vice President in May 2013 and elected to Senior Vice President in May 2013. Prior to joining Versar, Ms McKnight owned her own independent consulting service for three years. Prior to that she worked for KBR Government Services Group in a variety of business development leadership roles for 17 years. She held the position of Vice President of Global Sales & ing the last six years at KBR. Prior to that she was Business Development Director for Zapata Engineering. She received her Associates of Arts degree from Brevard Community College.
Wendell A. Newton
Senior Vice President, Professional Services
Wendell A. Newton, was elected a Senior Vice President for Versar’s Professional Services Group in July 2014. Mr. Newton brings twenty-five years’ experience in leadership and management in the areas of contracts, operations, finance, project management, human resources, and business development. Mr. Newton served as Vice President for J. M. Waller's Operations Division managing the company's professional services resources world-wide and providing oversight to nearly 300 engineering, scientific, management and professional support staff. He was responsible for financial resource planning and execution, technical and cost preparation, project planning and execution, and the direct interface with J. M. Waller's client base. Prior to joining J. M. Waller, Mr. Newton was a career U. S. Army officer with a number of Field Artillery and Recruiting assignments including service as Director of Operations for the Army's Southeast U.S. Recruiting Region. Mr. Newton has a Bachelors degree in Vocational Education from Auburn University.
