Versar has the ecological expertise and real world experience to ensure the successful restoration of aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. Our scientists work directly with our engineers to develop state-of-the-art stream, wetland, and reforestation designs in many watershed plans for local jurisdictions. We also provide species and habitat restoration plans such as the Barnegat Bay Ecosystem Restoration in New Jersey. Versar was the lead consultant to the Corps of Engineers and Maryland’s Department of National Resources in preparation of the risk assessment and EIS for oyster restoration in the Chesapeake Bay. Versar has developed a national reputation for fish passage restoration to projects at hydropower facilities along the East Coast.
Barnegat Bay Ecosystem Restoration – Conducted GIS, field, feasibility, and design for 24 habitat restoration projects and received USACE-Philadelphia commendation
Chesapeake Bay Oyster Restoration – Prepared risk assessment of using Asian oysters for oyster restoration actions in Chesapeake Bay
Maryland Geomorphic Assessments – Completed detailed geomorphic monitoring before and after restoration of streams in Frederick County, Maryland
Cape May Point Wetlands Restoration – Completed design and planting of marsh restoration for endangered species in Cape May Point
Chesapeake Bay Marine Debris Removal – Conducted two large-scale projects that removed 24,000 pieces of marine debris in Chesapeake Bay
